Privacy Policy

Pausly ("we", "us") is operated by Faruq LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. This policy explains how we collect and use your data, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what we need to run a study tool, we do not sell your data, and you can delete your account and data at any time by emailing hello@pausly.ai.

• Account data: your name, email address, and, if you sign in with Google, your basic Google profile (name, email, avatar). Passwords are stored hashed.
• Study content: the videos you open, files you upload (including PDFs, audio, and slides), notes you write, tutor messages, quiz and flashcard answers, and the study materials generated for you.
• Usage data: product events (for example which features you use), device and browser information, and approximate location derived from your IP address. Collected through PostHog.
• Error data: crash and error reports, which may include your account id and the actions leading to the error. Collected through Sentry.
• Payment data: handled by Polar, our merchant of record. We never see or store your card details; we only receive your subscription status.

Pausly uses YouTube API Services to fetch public video information such as titles, thumbnails, channel names, and captions or transcripts. This data powers the player and the study materials. Pausly does not access your YouTube account, watch history, or private data. Signing in with Google only shares your basic Google profile with us; it does not connect your YouTube account.

In addition to this policy, Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

To generate study materials, we send the relevant extracted text or transcript from your selected source and your prompts to AI providers: Google (Gemini), Anthropic (Claude), and OpenAI. These providers process the data to produce the output and handle it under their own terms. We do not use your content to train AI models.

We use a small set of service providers to run Pausly, each receiving only what they need:

• Cloudflare: hosting, networking, and file storage
• A managed PostgreSQL database for application data
• Resend: transactional email (sign-in links, receipts)
• PostHog: product analytics
• Sentry: error monitoring
• Polar: payments and billing, as merchant of record
• Google, Anthropic, OpenAI: AI generation, as described above

These providers may store data in the United States or the European Union. Where required, transfers rely on standard contractual protections.

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences (like language), and analytics cookies from PostHog to understand how the product is used. We do not use advertising cookies.

• Account and study content: for as long as your account exists.
• If you delete your account or ask us to, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep it longer.
• Aggregated, anonymized statistics may be kept to improve the product.

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR in the EU, the KVKK in Turkey, and the CCPA in California), you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@pausly.ai and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Pausly is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Data is encrypted in transit, access to production systems is limited, and passwords are stored hashed. No online service can be perfectly secure, but we design Pausly to minimize the data it holds.

We may update this policy as the product evolves. If a change is material, we will give notice inside the product or by email. For any privacy question, email hello@pausly.ai.
